Are people really only mean because they are insecure? Or are there just mean people who also happen to be insecure?
Because I've met some mean people and they really seemed to think they were awesome. Maybe mean, insecure people are also very good actors.
Someone should study that.

Mean People Suck!
Speaking from my own experience, all people are sometimes insecure.
So I'd say that meanness and insecurity can go hand in hand, but also that pure meanness can also exist on its own (and insecurity doesn't always manifest itself as meanness).
I'm mean (and yes, Erika, I suck). But I'm not always insecure. Sometimes I'm just mean.
I think everyone is mean some of the time, just like we are all the "bad driver" at some point, maybe some of us more then others. I find that I am mostly mean when I didn't intend to be and then realize too late that I am a jerk. But then some times I work at being mean like an art form, I hone it. Hey, I've got to put my time into something.
Don't need no mean people 'round here.

can meanness be perceived? maybe something that's mean to one person isn't mean to another? i'm insecure and sometimes it makes me mean, or maybe i'm perceived as mean, but i'm not trying to be mean. do intentions matter as much as the outcome? sometimes my insecurities make me nice, too.
